Woodbridge guarantees a white Christmas
Snow will be guaranteed in Woodbridge this Christmas, whether or not the forecast of severe weather proves right. A flurry of artificial snow will be released at the late-night shopping event on Market Hill on Wednesday 7 December, when the shops will stay open until 8pm. Shoppers buying goods in the shops will be given a voucher for a free glass of mulled wine at The King's Head. The person powering up the snow machine will be Denise Potter of Darcy B, the women’s clothes shop on the Hill.
Darcy B will not be the only business putting on a special Yuletide show. Shopkeepers in the town will be competing for the Woodbridge Chamber of Commerce Shield, plus a case of wine, awarded for the best Christmas window display. The award is funded by estate agency Gobbitt & Kirby whose principal, Scott Matheson-Barr, reckons the competition not only raises standards, but also introduces an element of fun.
