Councillor James Bidwell, Mayor of Woodbridge, ran a competition for the Mayor’s Cup and the Evelyn Rumsby Cup at Woodbridge Golf Club on 26th September 2006.
25 players turned out on the Forest Course in late summer sunshine, in a Stableford match.
The Evelyn Rumsby Cup was awarded for the best score over the first nine holes to Ken Mealing (2nd David Houchell) and the same player won the Mayor’s Cup (2nd Murray Staines). The cups were presented by the Woodbridge Town Clerk, Mrs Chris Walker.
After an excellent lunch players and guests were addressed by Philip Musselwhite, a member of the Cancer Campaign in Suffolk Committee, on the work of the charity, which runs the Cancer Information Centre at Ipswich Hospital among many other activities aimed at alleviating problems associated with cancer suffering in Suffolk.
