Artefacts from RFC, RAF and USAAF, covering the period from the opening of Martlesham Heath in 1917 until closure in 1967, and embraces the period that the AA & EE were at Martlesham Heath.

Discover the fascinating and unusual story of the RAF Martlesham Heath Airfield, learn of its triumphs, disasters, and many aviation achievements, including the aircraft flight testing and development work it performed from 1915 to World War 2, and again after World War 2, up to the 1970s.

Learn of its role as a Battle of Britain Fighter Station, and as a base for US Army Air Force fighter Squadrons, which flew P-47 "Thunderbolts" and P-51 "Mustangs".
Marvel at the work that was done in conjunction with the "boffins" at RAF Bawdsey, the Flying Boat Station at Felixstowe, and the Armament Development facility at Orfordness.
Find out about the brave British and Americans who worked and fought (and some who died) while based here.
